The location is stunning with clean rooms and excellent food options, but be prepared for weak air conditioning and limited gym facilities. It's ideal for a peaceful getaway, though transportation options are scarce. It's a solid choice for a family vacation without much nightlife around.

The location of the hotel was great. We considered staying at the Galeon, but it is definitely a little farther away from the beach and main pools/ entertainment that are offered at the Club Cartago and the other sister property. Having said this, we did inspect a room at the Galeon and it was definitely a little bigger than our room at the Club Cartago. Nevertheless, I would still choose Club Cartago based on the location. The food at Club Cartago was also the best of the bunch, with the buffet offering the most variety. The Western Bar at the lower property and the Mexican Corner at the Galeon were both good options for lunch...if you weren't interested in another buffet.Front desk staff were excellent.
As for negatives, the room was a little warm at night. I believe the air conditioning unit was a little on the small side. The elevators were quite small and also a little on the slow side...but this wasn't a deal breaker.I would recommend stayhing on the fourth floor...so that you are only four levels from the top or bottom (in case you decide to walk). Some of the bar staff were not overly friendly, but others were great.

The reception staff were friendly.
Fortunately, we only stayed at the hotel one night. Club Cartago is an all inclusive hotel, but the food both looked and tasted horrible and we could not eat a thing there. We ended up eating all our meals out, thus our stay became much more expensive than we first thought it would be. The pictures of the hotel on your website are misleading, especially those of the pool area, which are actually pictures of the neighbour hotel.

Staff were friendly and very helpful. Everywhere was clean. Food was fantastic for the price of the hotel with great variety. Location was excellent with lots to do and beach was very pretty. We had a great holiday and would recommend it to others.
Pools were perhaps not big enough for the amount of people in peak season and it was noisy to sleep at times due to the entertainment but you have to expect this in this type of hotel. Air conditioning was very noisy and leaked on balcony. We had no problem walking up 8 flights of stairs for the restaurent or room but if you needed to use the lift due to a disability or needing to use a pushchair it would be a problem at times to use the Hotel Cartago as there are only 2 lifts. This was particularly a problem when one of them broke down!

The hotel is ideal and fairly large with excellent and absolutely excellent staff members. The location is fab and particularly good, by cliffs. The place to have dinner just a short walk away from the venue is Restaurante Escandalo, enjoyed this place.
